1> Go on Start > Control Panel > Internet Options. 2> Click on Connection and under Dial Up & Virtual Private Networking Settings there should be listed only Satellite or Global.Net(DEFAULT) Always dail my default connection should be switched on, Current Default > Satellite or Global.Net. 3> Now click on Settings(Not LAN Settings) Automatically detect settings should be ticked. Use automatic configuration script must not be ticked. Use a proxy server for this connection must be switched on only if disconnection occurs. If selected click Advanced and fill in Proxy Settings. HTTP > proxy1.global.net.mt > Port > 8080 FTP > proxy1.global.net.mt > Port > 8080 Use the same proxy server for all protocols must be switched off. Click Ok. 4> Under Dail Up Settings fill in if not present: Username > Login/username Password > Your Password Domain > Empty 5> Click on Properties. Connect Using > Your modem should be listed. Click Configure. Maximum Speed 38 400 Modem Protocols > Empty. 6> Under Hardware Features: Enable hardware flow control must be ticked. Enable modem error control must be ticked. Enable modem compression must be ticked. Show terminal window must be switched off. Enable modem speaker must be ticked. Click Ok. 7> Under Phone Number try the following Dail up numbers > 21884901,21884902 Area code must be empty. Country/region code must be empty. 8> Click on Networking. There should be lselected only > PPP:windows:95/98/NT4/2000,Internet Under Connection uses the following items there should be marked only: Internet Protocols: Highlight TCP/IP and click Properties. under General : Obtain an IP address automatically should be ticked. Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click Advaned. Under General: Use default gateway on remote network should be ticked. Use IP header compression should be ticked.. Under DNS: Append primary and connection specific DNS suffixes should be ticked. Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix should be ticked. Under WINS: Enable LMHOSTS lookup should be ticked. Disable NETBIOS over TCP/IP should be ticked. Click Ok till: PPP Windows 95/98/NT4/2000,Internet occurs. Click Settings. Enable LCP extension should be ticked. Enable software compression should be ticked. Negotiate Multilink for single link connnection should not be ticked. Click Ok and exit. !ATTENTON! Follow these settings carefully with attention as a single mistake can corrupt your windows settings. |
