Windows 95 Dial Up Metworking Settings



Step 1:

Double click on My Computer

Double click on Dial up Networking and open Make New Connection icon.



Step 2:

Enter a name for this connection.
Select the correct modem from the list.
Click next to continue



Step 3:

Type in the area code for your city and your closest POP number obtained from Global Net Select Malta as the country code.

Click next to continue.



Step 4:

A new window will appear, informing you that a new dial up networking connection has successfully been created.

Click Finish to Continue



Step 5:

Right click on the new connection icon in the DUN folder and select properties from the menu that pops up.



Step 6:

Under the General TAB you will find the Area code and Phone Number fields. ensure that the POP number supplied by the service provider is typed in where it indicates Telephone Number.

However, if you are dialing from the same area, disable the use area code and country code option, just below the country code.

Click on the Server Types tab at the top to continue.



Step 7:

Ensure the type of dial up server is PPP:Windows 95 or 98,NT etc...

Take out the tick in Log on to network.

Leave the tick in Enable software compression.

Leave the tick out of the option below Enable Software Compression.

Take out the tick in Netbeui and IPX/SPX. Leave the tick in TCP/IP.

Click the TCP/IP Settings TAB to continue.



Step 8:

Server assigned IP address must be enabled as an IP address cannot be specified.

Server assigned name server addresses should be ticked .

Ignore Primary & Secondary Wins

Ensure that there are 2 ticks at the bottom, Use IP header compression and Use default gateway.

Click Ok and then Ok again to continue to Dial Up Process



Step 9:

In the DUN Folder, double click on the Global Net connection icon and enter the username and password as shown in the image.

Please ensure that the username inputted is the one supplied by Global Net and not the one in the image.

For Pay As You Use clients enter the email name only eg: Paul and then the password.
