Step 1: Double click on My Computer Double click on Dial up Networking to begin the setup of DUN for Win NT.
Step 2: Enter a name for this connection. Click next to continue ![]() Step 3: On this screen you will need to add a tick to the first option - I am calling the Internet Click next to continue.
Step 4: In this screen you will need to enter the ISP POP Number. Do not put a tick in Use Telephony dialing properties. Click next to Continue.
Step 5: The setup of DUN for Win NT is now completed. Click finish to save the setup.
Step 6: The DUN window will pop up after the setup and will display the following details of your connection - the Phonebook entry name and POP number. On the top right of this window you will need to click on the More button to configure the DUN connection. Click on the More button to continue.
Step 7: The following screen will display the details of the connection with a few other TAB options at the top of it. You will not need to touch anything on this screen except for the Server TAB at the top. Click the Server TAB to continue.
Step 8: On this screen you will find the Dial Up Server type and network protocols options. The Dial up Server type should be on PPP:Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet. The only network protocol that should be ticked must be the TCP/IP option. Right at the bottom there should be 2 ticks in the options - Enable software compression and PPP LCP extensions. Click on the TCP/IP Settings button to continue.
Step 9: The TCP/IP Settings should be as follows. Server assigned IP should be enabled. Server assigned name Server address should also be ticked.Make sure that there are 2 ticks at the bottom of the window - Use IP header compression and default gateway. Click OK to continue.
Step 10: Once you have setup the TCP/IP settings, you will then be required to setup the security options in the phonebook entry. Place a tick in the first option - Accept any authentication including clear text. Click OK to continue.
Step 11: Once you have finished configuring the DUN properties you will need to click on the Dial button at the bottom of the DUN window. A new window like the one in the image will appear, asking for the username, password and domain fields. You will need to fill in the correct username and password in the field and leave the domain blank. Click OK to start the dialing process.
Step 12: Once you have clicked OK you will then see the dialing window appear showing the POP number that the user is dialing. This process can be cancelled by the user by pressing the cancel button. HOME |
