Windows Me Dial-Up Networking Settings

1. Click Start. Choose Settings and then Dial-up Networking;

2. Double-click on Make New Connection and go through the wizard naming the connection dialer Global Net, then click Next;

3. When the window pops up, type in the phone number which is written on your setup sheet. (If you do not know the number call our 'Support Line' for further help). Make sure that the Area Code is empty and that the country code is Malta (356);

4. Click Next and Finish;

5. When you are ready from the set-up of the connection, double click on the new Global Net connection and type in your username and password;

6. Click on Dialing Properties and make sure that the sentence 'Dial Using' is ticked as Tone, then click Apply and Ok;

7. Click on Properties and then choose the Networking Tab;

8. Type of Dial-Up Server should be set as PPP, Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME;

9. Enable Software Compression and TCP/IP should be the only options ticked. Click on the TCP/IP Settings button;

10. You should have marked 'Server assigned IP Address' together with 'Server Assigned name server addresses'

11. Also make sure that Use IP Header Compression and Use Default Gateway on Remote Network are both ticked.

12. Click on the Security tab. Make sure your Username and Password are entered correctly;

13. No other boxes should be marked on the screen;

14. Click Ok and you should be back to the Connect To box. Then Click Cancel.

15. Then click on the Start menu , Settings and Control Panel;

16. Double click on the Network icon and make sure Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP are installed in the network components;

17. Highlight Dial-Up Adapter and click on the Properties button. Then, click on the Bindings tab and check that TCP/IP is there marked. Then click OK.

18. Next, highlight "TCP/IP" and click on the Properties button. On the DNS Configure tab "Disable" should be marked.

19. Click "OK" and "OK" again. After a couple of seconds the computer will ask you to restart it. Click "OK" and wait till it restarts

20. When Windows loads up, click on Start, Settings and Dial-up Networking and then click on Global Net. Click Connect to start the internet connection procedure
