![]() Frequent Line Disconnections IMPORTANT: THIS NOTE APPLIES ONLY TO OUR SUBSCRIBERS WHO EXPERIENCE DAILY DISCONNECTIONS OF THE TELEPHONE LINE. We are now connected to Maltacom through a high-speed Fiber Optic link which makes it virtually impossible that any line is disconnected from our side. For those subscribers who experience frequent disconnections the following instructions will help you to solve this problem. Please make sure that the following items are checked. Some of the items require the help of a qualified technical person: 1. Ensure that your phone line does not have any distortions or 'flickering' noises. A single glitch will cut your line while using the internet. 2. Try to change the cable between the modem and telephone line. 3. If you have 'Maltacom Star Services' installed, then every time this service is active it created a background bleep. This bleep will diconnect your line. 4. If above two points are correct, check the software settings described below. 5. Check that the Maltcom cable is correctly connected as the diagram below. The two cables coming into your home are connected to a MASTER box connection points 2 and 6. This MASTER box should be the only box with the Capacitor installed. To connect telephone extentions, make sure that the Secondary BOXes do not have a Capacitor inside and that the cable from Master to Sec boxes is connected using three wires on connection numbers 2, 3 and 5.
6. If you notice that your modem sends data but you receive nothing then this is surely an indication that your phone line is distorted. This causes your modem to loose the sync. Please ensure that you do not hear a single 'glitch' or 'noise' over the line connected to your modem. 7. If you still have problems get an external modem and try it out. 8. The last thing to do would be a complete reinstalltion of your software after you backup your data.
